U-M Museum of Art (UMMA), 525 S. State. Taubman Gallery I: Hear Me Now: The Black Potters of Old Edgefield, South Carolina (Aug. 26–Jan. 7, 2024). More than 60 stoneware objects made by African American potters in the decades surrounding the Civil War, including monumental storage jars by the enslaved potter and poet Dave Drake (1800-1870), exhibited alongside the works of several contemporary Black ceramicists, including Theaster Gates and Simone Leigh.
