Donington and Quadring schools receive donation from store following drawing competition

May 31, 2023

Artistic youngsters were set the task of designing a mascot for their village to help celebrate the second anniversary of a store.

Budgens Donington wanted to celebrate its milestone anniversary by running a drawing competition to challenge youngsters to design a mascot for the village.

Pupils at both Donington Cowley Endowed Primary School and Quadring Cowley and Brown’s were invited to take part in the contest – with more than 200 drawings submitted.

The extremely difficult task of judging the event fell to Donington councillors Jane King and Jane Stanley.

Each school received a donation of £500 while the winners were given shopping vouchers and chocolates.

Store manager Shamal Fernando said; “We owe a big thank to Sophie Foston and Mrs J Jameson, the head teachers from both schools for helping us make this event a success and of cause, the two ladies who spent hours picking the winners.

“The team at Budgens Donington is committed to serve its local community as we strongly believe that the core of community service lies in the fact that it connects us to the community by improving it, thus making it a better place for all of us to live in.”

The store has supported a number of good causes over the last two years including LIVES, Butterfly Hospice and Rotary Club of Spalding.

The drawings will be on show in the store for the summer.
